College of Nursing Alumni Awards Criteria

 

The College of Nursing at Michigan State University annually seeks nominations for our 2010 Alumni Awards.

 

Since 1972, The College of Nursing Alumni Association has presented accomplished nursing alumni with the highest honor of recognition. The three award categories are: Distinguished Alumni Award, Alumni Service Award and the Recent Graduate Achievement Award. Each award is unique in its acknowledgment of exemplary alumni achievements.


DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes nursing leaders who have attained the highest level of professional accomplishments, and/or has advanced the profession through practice, research, education or administration. Recipients must have demonstrated community service on a local, state, national, or international level.

Selection Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of the College of Nursing at Michigan State University.
  • Recognizes a leader who has attained the highest level of professional accomplishments, and/or has advanced the profession through practice, research, education or administration.
  • Has demonstrated continuing voluntary service on a local, state, national, or international level.
  • Special honors or recognitions will be considered.

ALUMNI SERVICE AWARD
The Alumni Service Award recognizes alumni whose dedicated work and exemplary service have benefited society, and the profession of nursing. Recipients must have demonstrated community service on a local, state, national, or international level.

 

Selection Criteria:
  • Must be a graduate of the College of Nursing at Michigan State University.
  • Recognizes alumni whose dedicated work and exemplary service have benefited society, and the profession of Nursing.
  • Has demonstrated voluntary service to Michigan State University, the College of Nursing or other public service on a local, state, national, or international level.

RECENT GRADUATE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Recent Graduate Achievement Award recognizes nursing alumni who graduated within the past 10 years and who have obtained a level of professional accomplishments that has contributed to their employer, a history of promotion, military service, continued education, or published research or other successes. Recipients must have demonstrated community service on a local, state, national, or international level.

Selection Criteria:

  • Must be a graduate of the College of Nursing at Michigan State University within the past ten years.
  • Has obtained a level of professional accomplishments including but not limited to, contributions to employer, history of promotion, military accomplishments, continued education, published work.
  • Has demonstrated voluntary service to Michigan State University, the College of Nursing or other public service on a local, state, national, or international level.

To nominate a candidate for the Recent Graduate Achievement Award, please complete the Nomination Form.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURES FOR ALL AWARDS

  • Nominations will be accepted until June 1, 2010.
  • Peer and self nominations will be accepted from alumni, faculty, the nursing community, and others who feel that the nominee is deserving of recognition by the College of Nursing at Michigan State University.
  • The awards committee will review the nominations and forward recommendations to the dean of the College of Nursing for approval.

CONFERRING OF AWARDS

The president of the College of Nursing Alumni Association Board and/or a board representative will bestow the Alumni Award upon the recipient at the College’s Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony in the fall of 2010.
