College of Nursing Alumna Receives Nursing Excellence Award
Thursday, December 06, 2007
Rosemary Hurlburt (CON BSN ’87, MSN ’91) was honored with the 2007 Nursing Spectrum Excellence Award for Advancing and Leading the Profession. Her hard work and dedication to the nursing profession is recognized through this merit.
Sponsored by the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing’s Future, the 2007 Nursing Spectrum Excellence Award recognizes nurses who make extraordinary contributions to the field. Winners were nominated by peers based on their professional roles, contribution to the nursing profession, and specific examples of their excellence in the given category. Regional winners in each category, including Hurlburt, will be judged against one another for the overall Nurse of the Year award announced in December.
Described by her peers as an objective, fair, honest, and positive individual, Hurlburt’s contribution to nursing is exemplified in all that she does. She is currently the director of acute adult in-services at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital managing the critical care services, as well as directing medical-surgical services and managing house shift managers. Hurlburt also developed the hospital's admission unit and professional practice councils while being involved in the hospital's cardiovascular center for open heart patients.
At this time the College of Nursing at Michigan State University would like to honor the exemplary achievements of alumna, Rosemary Hurlburt. Congratulations.
