The College of Nursing is honored with the 2009 Building Michigan’s Healthcare Workforce Award for Retention. The award, was established by the Michigan Health Council to recognize Michigan healthcare organizations and educators who are working on creative approaches to recruit and retain a skilled and diverse healthcare workforce in Michigan.
Dr. Teresa Wehrwein, PhD, RN, BC, and Katie Kessler, RN, are recognized for their work in establishing the Nursing for Life: RN Career Transition Program within the College of Nursing. "Our nursing workforce initiatives that support experienced nurses are an important strategy in addressing the nursing shortage,” stated Wehrwein.
