Authorization to proceed with the construction of THE BOTT BUILDING for Nursing Education and Research has been approved by the Michigan State University Board of Trustees at its April 16th meeting.

The university will break ground on the nursing building this summer. Bernadette and Timothy Marquez, who donated the naming gift for the project, are expected to attend.

The groundbreaking will be followed by roughly 12 – 18 months of construction and a 2011 opening of the new building.

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the College was awarded nearly $7.45 million from the National Institutes of Health's National Center for Research Resources. The Building also has $10.15 million in non federal support, including a $7 million commitment from The Timothy and Bernadette Marquez Foundation and the generosity of over 1,000 other benefactors.
