The College of Nursing welcomes Shannon Brecheisen as the new Director of the Office of Student Support Services. She is dedicated to enhancing the student experience and holds a professional affiliation with ACPA – College Student Educators International.

"Shannon will be a great addition to the College as she brings with her professional experience in the areas of program planning, project management, supervision and recruiting. Her work in student affairs includes residence life, academic advising, orientation, recruitment, admissions, and students in transition,” said Terry Viau, Assistant Professor and Associate Dean for Support Services.

In her new position, Shannon plans to find ways to be more efficient and effective with the unit’s administrative responsibilities. One of her goals is to become better at proactively delivering support to students that anticipate issues. She also hopes to use more multimedia and technology to meet the needs of a tech savvy generation.

Most recently, she worked at Michigan State University in the Eli Broad College of Business as an Academic Advisor and Coordinator of the Broad Academic Orientation Program. Prior to that, she has held a variety of positions related to Student Services at both Central Michigan University and Michigan State University.

"The strength of the College and strategic initiatives, especially the future construction of the new BOTT BUILDING for Nursing Education and Research, generated a lot of excitement. This momentum inspired me to put my education to work at the College of Nursing. Relocation of the Office of Student Support Services within the new building will put nursing students' front and center and I am excited to be a part of that,” said Brecheisen.

Brecheisen holds a Master of Science in General/Experimental Psychology from Central Michigan University. She is currently in the dissertation phase of a PhD in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University with a cognate in measurement and quantitative methods.
